First.. The Reviews:

Crying out Love in the Center of the World (japanese):

Cryingoutlove_1 Year: 2004

Director: Isao Yukisada

Cast: Takao Osawa, Kou Shibasaki, Masami Nagasawa, Mirai Moriyama, Tsutomo Yamazaki, Kondo Yoshisawa

Based on the best-selling romance by Kyoichi Katayama, the film stars Takao Osawa (Sky High) as Sakutaro Matsumoto, a brooding thirtysomething male engaged to the beautiful Ritsuko Fujimura (Kou Shibasaki from One Missed Call). While packing up boxes for a move, Sakutaro's fiancée discovers a cassette tape.she finally listens to the cassette and hears a young girl's voice. Moved to tears by the tape's content, Ritsuko promptly walks out of Sakutaro's life, leaving him with only a cryptic note: "I'm going away for awhile. Don't worry about me."

Confused and unsure of himself, Sakutaro heads to a bar to think things over. By pure chance, he receives an important clue to Ritsuko's whereabouts. While watching a live television report at the Takamatsu Airport during an impending typhoon, he sees his fiancée hobbling around (plot point!) in the background. The location sparks Sakutaro's memory banks, plunging the man's thoughts backwards in time, some seventeen years ago. His current situation, it seems, has origins in the past. The film then shifts perspective to 1986 with young "Saku" (now played by Mirai Moriyama)..Then from here on, Saku's tragic first love story starts..

My Girl And I (korean):

Mygirlandi_1 Year: 2005

Director: Jung Yoon-soo

Cast: Song Hye-Gyo ("Full House"), Cha Tae-Hyun ("My Sassy Girl")

A simple teenager Su-ho and the pretty and popular Su-Eun start dating. Their young love is the object of much jealousy from all the other students, but for Su-ho and Su-Eun, their love just seems splendid and eternal. Until Su-ho finds out something tragic about the girl he loves...
"My Girl and I" is the remake of the Japanese box-office hit "Crying Out Love from the Centre of the World".

My Girl and I is essentially about the intense experience of a first love. For the case of Su-ho (My Sassy Girl’s Cha Tae-hyun), it is so intense that even years after her death, he has not and does not want to get over her. It is a self-torturing process he puts himself through because of his love for Su-eun (Song Hye-gyo).
Su-ho is your average regular kid, while Su-eun is the prettiest girl in the school. Lucky for him, she has had a crush on him ever since they were kids. The relationship develops over time and with a little help from his friends to help speed things up, it is during the trip to Maemul Island that Su-ho realises that he really is in love with Su-eun. As typical as any tragic love story goes, that is also the same moment that tragedy strikes.

Now.. The Comparison:

Faithfulness to the Book:
Crying out Love: They say it's very faithful to the book.. hehe
My Girl and I: some scenes were changed. some remained faithful.

The Theme:
Crying out Love: very serious, it's a drama.. -_-
My Girl and I: the lighter side ^_^

Smiles you'll get:
Crying out Love: a few.. you'll smile
My Girl and I: You'll smile and laugh ^_^

Tears you'll shed:
Crying out Love: Buckets load. prepare your tissues!!
My Girl and I: you'll be sad..

The Cast:
Crying out Love: They're good! specailly the girl (teen). she even shaved her hair @_@
My Girl and I: The guy doesn't quite do well in dramas, but he's good in comedies. Good thing SHK's acting here was good.

The Final Verdict:
They're both good movies. But for me, "Crying out Love" beats "My Girl and I" hands down. My only suggestion is that if you want a more serious approach then watch "Crying out Love in the center of the World" if you want the lighter approach the watch "My Girl And I". ok?

Comments

I will choose "My Girl and I" since SHK is the main cast..
